I got a Garmin - They usually get good ratings from Consumer Reports. I went with a screen that was big enough to read. That was important to me. And voice directions, so I don't always have to be looking at the silly thing to tell what I was supposed to be doing next. Some of the directions suck, but then again that is true of any computer generated directions. Decided not to get any of the fancy blue tooth or traffic report stuff. The traffic stuff demands a monthly subscription and I don't drive in traffic that much. I have used it to get me to Oklahoma and back. And for the trip back from Denver after Big Harold got sick. It only got me lost once when we came back from Denver and that was probably my fault for trying to be fancy. You do need to buy upgrade maps at least once a year. New and corrected information is being added all the time. It lives in the car, so if you want to see it, ask me at a BASFA meeting. Yes, my model is several years old and isn't in stores anymore, but its newer relatives will be similar in scope and probably cheaper.
