"A Dog and His Boy" -official title Mr. Peabody's Lament - was definitely intended to be a sentimental tear-jerker with small bits of comic relief. For some reason, it seems to be most effective on teachers. Glad it worked. One of these cons I may be cruel and do an entire set of that stuff just to see how many I can get. I have way too many of them in my songbook. Problem is, if I do too many of them I get myself.
