As for everything else you mention, the most tactful way I can reply is Consonance has the same (and sometimes bigger) challenges, but with two sound board people and two mike movers, they manage to stay on schedule. Maybe you can come down here and find out what Kristoff's secret is. I wish Interfilk had an audio expert exchange.
I can tell you part of it:
1. Have concom arrange the schedule so that there is a 15-minute break between each concert, instead of a 2-hour soundchekathon. 2. Set up dedicated mikes for vocals. Set up dedicated mikes for instruments. Push the ones not being used in a set to the back of the stage, or offstage.
And FWIW, I complain because I care. My college degree is in radio/TV production and I have run sound boards for KOMO-TV and radio, and KCTS/KUOW as well as for several community theaters in the Silicon Valley area. But you probably already knew that.
