for some reason, i think of panini as ciabatta (which I love) squished in a sandwich press (which I also love), but then i imagine that panini simply means "squished in a sandwich press" so the type of bread might be incidental, this mostly based on stuff obtained at airport gates and at my medical center sandwich shop
