And seriously, good on your cousin to speak to invisible disabilities. Definitely something that needs consciousness raising. I find that my own crowd are amazingly cool with my MS ; recently, we went to an old bar that was grandfathered so not that accessible, and they asked me ahead of time how I felt about that, a spiral staircase, etc... also asked when we walked some blocks if it was a strain... and I appreciated the thoughtfulness.
