I do not want the paltry gains of the health insurance law to be reversed. It will help some people, if it can be enforced. The law makes no provisions for enforcing anything except the requirement to buy insurance.

My disappointment is for the failure of my party (I am a Democrat) to put a national health care program into place in the first two years of Obama's administration when they had a clear majority in both houses. One reason they did not do this is Obama never sent a bill to Congress with such plan.

My gripe with Obama yesterday is for doing what he does so frequently, taking a broken promise and claiming it as a win.

"If it saves one life" argument ignores the many lives it will endanger. Mine, for example. I am a diabetic with a heart condition, and the last time I was unemployed I had to drop my medical insurance because it cost more than my unemployment income. The plan would not change that, it would only make it illegal for me to be refused insurance. There is no limit to how much I can be charged for it. With true national health care I would not have to worry about the huge debt I'll incur when I have my first heart attack after I retire.
