"Nothing will solve the problem?" Oh, now! Just because a problem can't be solved overnight doesn't mean change can't happen gradually. And as far as a snap-your-fingers instant solution, well, total annihilation of the human race in a nuclear war - THAT would eliminate gun violence, cure the common cold, and solve a whole lot of other problems (like debt, for instance) all at once.
