I join you in your enmity for the USPS.

My primary problem is their excessive increases in out-of-US shipping charges. I just paid (well, my eBay customer paid) $23.95 to send a prepaid envelope to Europe. I gained slightly on this by using up $23.95 in stamps from the bunch of old stamps I had sitting around for 5-10 years. It seems like last year it was maybe about $6 less, before that, when I started eBay, there used to be smaller $5 global flat rate envelope that would hold one or two paperbacks, and before that, there was a worldwide 4th class book rate that they killed when they came up with media mail.

If I didn't know better, I'd think the post office is conducting a campaign for worldwide illiteracy. Sadly, all that is happening is sales to overseas customers suffer, and those whose businesses rely on such sales suffer, harming the overall economy.

Another recent bit of greed: no more overseas parcel post. They already did away with first class for parcels over 4 pounds. So now if I were to ship a large package overseas, it would cost double or triple what it did last year.

No wonder the rest of the world hates us.
