It's a Plant
Dec. 4th, 2004 05:02 pm17 of them, actually. In an effort to cat-proof my patio, so I can let the cats outside without letting them out, I lined the patio wall with flower pots. Now they are filled with flowers.

The close-ups were taken with a newly aquired mini-nikkor 60mm macro lens on a D70 digital SLR. I'm not real pleased with this lens so far - it has almost no depth of field close up, and the auto focus is unpredictible. The wide shots were done with a Nikor 28-200 zoom, which can almost do as good a close-up shot zoomed in as the macro lens can.
I tried using the macro lens to get pictures of Domino grooming Pumpkin, but kept missing the "right" shot. Might have been the angle - I was lying on my back in bed, and they were at the foot of the bed. I was afraid if I moved to get a better angle, they would flee.
Anyhow, those photos, such as they are, can be found here

Date: 2004-12-05 08:11 am (UTC)I wish that my cats would get along that well, but after 13 years (13? Has it been that long?) Gremlin and Aurora still don't really get along. I use this as an example when clients ask me about cat-cat problems. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out. (And Mordecai picks on EVERYONE.)
Nice photos of flowers! Now all you have to do is not kill them. I have a black thumb, and the fact that the roses have survived at the Cabin is a testament to their determination, since they have weathered drought, deer and deprivation in terms of care from me.

Thanks - yeah I have a plaid thumb myself. Blame it on DNA - my mother can make flowers bloom from rocks, my dad is the opposite. The patio is out of direct sunlight but does get rained on, so I should be fine until summer.
