Hopefully, I'll be home Sunday afternoon
Aug. 12th, 2006 11:03 pmDespite the insanity here in the UK airports, United has not canceled the flight I'm on, at least not for the past two days. According to the web site, the Saturday flight left an hour late, and is due in 2 hours late to SFO, as I write it ought to be landing. Friday's flight is listed as having left an hour late but arriving 4 hours late. I'm not sure how that would have happened.
I have to be at the airport at 7 am for a 10 o'clock flight. No carry-on except my insulin and wallet. Cousins Brian & Viv, whom I've been staying with since Friday night, took me to town so I could buy a second suitcase. I don't need to tell you how nervous I am about my laptop and camera being in checked luggage, but the idiots whose job is to stay in power by frightening us, have decreed it. My only alternative would be to take the train to Paris and fly home from there, which just isn't possible on such short notice.
And they say they will be hand-searching everyone, twice - once at the usual screening area and once at the gate. Totally insane.
