The interview did not go so well. Major chunks of the job require a level of technical knowledge I do not have. I don't think they are going to take the chance that I can learn it in the time frame available. And there's really no one there with time to train me.

But I did get to see some new equipment and an impressive video capture head end lab. Staffed by a 6-foot-tall very slender blonde woman with an Ozarks accent.

Will probably find out Monday, at which point the contract agency will submit my resume to other managers. Bummer, I was hoping this would land me back in time to not have to go to savings to pay the credit card.

After the interview I went to Fry's and returned the 2 webcams. I'll be taking Vista off the laptop since it's really ugly and hard to navigate. I don't see any performance increase from being 64-bit, in fact it takes forever to shut down. Trouble is I think I accidentally threw away my Gateway recovery CD. Will have to go online and see what I can do to get another one.

The evening's festivities included taking Janice to Best Buy and helping her pick out a nice Sony receiver and a 5-disc CD player to go with it, then hook up her Bose surround sound system to it. Sounded great, but tomorrow I need to get some better connectors because the Sony really wants banana jacks, but the Bose has loose wire leads. The Sony can sort of take the wire leads, but it's ugly and one set of leads refused to make a good connection. I'm pretty happy with the sound, though, it beats the crappy mini-stereo she was replacing, and I think we spent less on the 2-piece set than she had spent on the bookshelf unit 10 years ago.

Also on deck for tomorrow is Target for kitty litter, Orchard Supply for new nylon closet runner guides (the ones I installed 2 years ago broke), and maybe some college football. I made a tub of my famous French Onion Bacon Clam Dip, need chips to go with it.
