It looks like by November I'll have 3 weeks of vacation time saved up. Battling for space inside my brain are three objectives, in no particular order:

1. Surin Elephant Round-up in NE Thailand 11/21-23
2. The beaches of Phuket and environs
3. Seeing places I have never seen before

Under #3 the prime places are:
- Angkor Wat, Cambodia
- The city formerly known as Saigon
- The Mekong river between those two places (there are many river boat tours available) 
- The Philippines, especially Manila and Palawan

To avoid the Christmas high season, best to leave in early November.

Does anyone know if the November full moon is a festival day in Vietnam/Cambodia as it is in Thailand?

Very early in the planning stages, ideas welcome.
