Place Holder

Busy at work today, and band rehearsal tonight, will do a review of Allegiance soon, this is mostly a placeholder till I have time to do it justice, meanwhile a photo ( behind this cut )

 for me to squee over. I've seen George Takei playing himself on TV many times, and he had always struck me as a good-natured, friendly person. Meeting him was a total pleasure, he is even nicer in person.

Offensive Defensive Ranting

Peeve: sportscasters and now sports participants abusing terms from football which have no place in other sports. I speak in particular about the terms offense and defense when talking about baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer.

Football has offense and defense, and those terms came to be because there are separate sets of players for each of those categories. In baseball there is just one set of players, and they switch roles between batting and fielding. In hockey and soccer, there's a goalie and then there's everyone else.  In basketball, there isn't even a goalie.
