Woke up at the crack of OMG to catch a train to Emeryville to catch a train to Reno, the purpose was mostly to get photos of snow in the mountains, because there was a HUGE snow storm there last week. I wanted to go sooner but had a commitment to be a stagehand till Sunday.

In the few days after the snowstorm, there were high temps and some rain.

No snow at all till we reached 5500 feet, and even then it was seriously melted and plowed and there was nothing still on the trees. And who planted all those deciduous trees on the evergreen forests, anyway? Boo, hiss.

I took a lot of pictures because that's what I do. And it was better than the same situation at the end of January for my Seattle train ride. But I am seriously disappointed.

Staying at the Harrah's because they had a very low room rate. Turns out the reason for the low room rate is usurious prices for everything else. $3 for a bottle of water. $5 for a room service soft drink.  Idiots - there's a convenience store right across the street. And a Walmart near enough for those who have a car. $11 a day for wi-fi. There's a Starbucks downstairs but it does not have its own wi-fi.

Used to be hotel buffets were The Bargain here. No longer. Much better food, but much steeper price.

Will sleep it off tonight. Take my camera around the town tomorrow.
