Wasted Trip to SPCA
Nov. 21st, 2020 11:01 pmAfter breakfast and online doings, drove to the SPCA hoping to adopt a cat, but the one they had which plays well with others had been adopted yesterday. Helpful worker searched but did not find an alternate. She suggested coming on Fridays instead of Saturdays.
Not as long a drive as google maps showed, simply take Tropicana past the Strip a mile or so, hang a left and you're there pretty much. 11 miles. Gorgeous day, great view of NYNY hotel and Luxor.
Miss Liberty is wearing a Raiders jersey.
Home, late lunch almost finished the shrimp in lobster sauce with some rice. Put out another can of food for the strays. Hung out on the back steps and watched the beautiful cream colored one eat. A neighbor driving by saw me and got out of her car to thank me for feeding the strays. She has 2 cats of her own, one of them "escapes" from time to time. When Amazon gets the bag of kibble to me I'll put Heidi's old mini-tower out for them.
Got back online and did a more thorough search of the Mojave site, TAF (The Animal Foundation) which is a much larger volume adoption agency than SPCA, and found a calico named Ma'am which had not shown up on previous searches because she was mislabeled as small (13+ lbs!) and is at a foster home. Contacted TAF, which contacted the foster Miki, who texted me with info on the cat. Sounds like a winner, and maybe a replacement for mirror cat. Miki will start the ball rolling with TAF. Not sure how they do it, but I'd prefer if Miki brings Ma'am to TAF so I can meet the cat.
According to the TAF site, seniors get $25 off, and the cat adoption fee is $25, so free. But I would give a donation anyway.
No idea of the time frame but TAF is open 7 days.
Watched some college football. Took a liedown from 5:30-7.
Streamed, an old friend showed up, plus later one of the regulars.
Salad and cup o noodles dinner. And ice cream. Pharmacist at Walmart was wrong about waiting 2 hours between dairy & the prostate drug. The online advice is dairy with a meal is fine, just don't take the pills with dairy. No mention of vitamins. But caffeine is made stronger by the pill.
