Fire Retire

Spook was very affectionate this morning. She spent most of the night toward the foot of the bed but when I was awake she walked toward my head and purred loudly in my ear. I petted her, but when I found the mat she bit me hard. And jumped off the bed. Then she jumped back on and got close again.

One of my habits lately is to turn the scanner app on and listen to the local fire department. This morning a female firefighter announced her retirement, or maybe it was announced by her chief, and then she said her goodbyes. Then one by one every battalion chimed in with congrats and well wishes, many of them noting that she had worked in their unit.  

Up with the alarm, or maybe a few minutes before, because I wanted to (a) beat the heat and (b) get to the bird preserve early (for me). They are only open from 6 am to 2 pm. Not a lot of photos because pretty early in my walk the allergens got to me. Odd because I don't have allergies. Not a lot of bird photos, but many landscape ones can be seen here.

Home, was having bladder issues all day. 

Called Lowe's, they said installation is part of the delivery for the gas stove. Yay! It took several phone calls, though.

Lunch was another 1/3 of the Costco fruit bowl, skipped the dinner salad and only ate my las 4 blueberry Eggos for dinner. And a mini cone.

No streamers to watch, I tried to set up my usual sage bush stream but the camera lost it's tripod screw and also I need a camera with a zoom but no microphones. Found one on Amazon and ordered it.

Tivo had a very entertaining The Voice and American Idol.  Also a Henry Gates Roots with Audra McDonald and Mandy Patinkin. I don't like Mandy very much, and learning about his roots did not help, except he learned on the show that a cousin he did not know he had and 20 other relatives were gassed at Treblinka, and he completely lost it. He had no idea. The only performance of his I enjoyed was The Princess Bride, and maybe it was because he was forced to Act™ - stay in character with a Spanish accent, learn advanced swordfighting, and most of all he was not allowed to sing. Because he can't. Sondheim loves his voice, and for me that's an insult. Audra, OTOH, is a superb singer and actress, and comes from a very musical and educated family.

Watched PTI and about half of The Summer House reunion, until the stupid came out.

And then there was the NFL draft, which Tivo recorded for 3 hours, I'm not sure they broadcast all of it. The stupid came out pretty early in that show as well.

Aquarium is clear, looks like all the fish survived.
