Morning recap

howeird 7:30 pm had a fever, headache, low energy, so I took some aspirin and my usual bedtime meds and went to bed. Read a short story in the Kindle app, then fired up the scanner app and listened to the King County (WA) scanner, which includes fire, ambulance , police and other safety units. Most of the calls were for Seattle downtown, West Seattle and Magnolia. One of the fire districts has a robocall dispatcher which names the truck #, the address twice but no details. King County radio is a lot more verbose than most, this morning there was a policewoman describing talking with a man who was lying on the sidewalk by a bus stop who asked her to just let him lie and to not point her gun at him (she wasn't).

Thursday is laptop update day, and I tried to reinstall the Verify drivers and use the left side USB port, but that didn't work. Seems that the reader is dead. Looking for but not finding an alternative at a reasonable price. No updates were found either.
Tivo time was the usual plus Married At First Sight, in which none of the couples are really ready to commit, but two of them have been brainwashed by "the experts" to think they can make it work. One couple could easily solve the one Big Problem but the producers don't seem to want to go there. The wife is a Thai refugee who grew up in abject poverty, the husband is a technical sales contractor who has been paying for everything despite not having a job at the moment. If he's like most successful tech people, he has a lot of savings, a 401K and an IRA, and doesn't need a job. But wife wants to see him go off to work every day. All he has to do is show her his finances and they would be good. To make life more interesting, she brought her "sister" in for a second opinion. Her sister, Michael, is a Thai ladyboy in clown makeup. Gag me. In Thailand the ladyboys (I've dated a few) look as good as the ladies, maybe better because they dress well and use makeup intelligently.
My old congresscritter Zoe Lofgren has been getting a lot of screen time for calling out the DOJ, especially AG Merrick Garland for dragging their feet on enforcing the Jan. 6th investigation subpoenas.
