The music software is Smartscore, I used to use the songbook version (it's cheaper but can only decipher the standard 3-staff piano/vocal music) I upgraded to Pro for this project, since I needed four-staff (it will do a full score if you need it to). It will also make a wav file from the MIDI and burn it to CD. Works on Mac or PC. I bought the download version for instant gratification.
It parses music almost flawlessly (it has issues with changing time signatures and sometimes will give you a double note by mistake) has a somewhat funky editor but once you play with it for an hour it's easy to use. One-button transposing is one of my favorite features since my best audition songs are not in my key.
Lots and lots of features. You can compose on a MIDI keyboard and it will print sheet music. Or you can scan in sheet music, arrange it into different parts (or transpose) and print it out again.
A little pricey, but IMHO worth it. $400 for pro, $200 for Songbook. I'd paid $160 for Songbook a few years ago, they gave me a $160 upgrade to Pro, even though it was from version 2 to version 5.
