I heard somewhere or other that if you stick to the perimeter of the grocery store, you're more likely to avoid the high-fat processed junk foods, which are theoretically all stored in the middle aisles, and get more healthy food instead.

Don't remember where I heard this, though, and haven't tried it out, either, so YMMV.
