It always seems to me that Mickey Rooney is defensive and guarded when he discusses his relationship with Judy and all the movies they made. I know that Bugsby Berkeley had a reputation for being sort of cruel and the pills and all that which Mickey denies. I have a secret suspicion he wanted a distance.
