Amazing what a good night's sleep will do. I re-read the letter from the life insurance company, and it was not out of line after all. Dad had not left behind a copy of the insurance policy, and the letter was telling me that the beneficiary is the parental trust, not we individual heirs. All they wanted was a copy of the trust showing I'm the successor trustee, and a couple of simple forms telling them where to send the check. One needs to be notarized, bother.
