Been experiencing a lot of insect bites the last few days. Benedryl doesn't seem to help, but Caladryl does. Amusing, because when I was a kid, calamine and caladryl never helped at all, but benedryl was prescription only for colds, and was not known as a topical antihistamine.

Have a big bottle of caladryl at work and another in the bedroom. Of course at work the ones which itch the most are the ones I can't get to with my clothes on.

Cortisone and Zertec are my cure for itching. Or atarax if you can get a script.

Also if you take the sticky part of a bandaid and put it directly on the bite (cutting off the air supply?) it helps to keep you from itching in personal areas when you are at work or something.

Have you tried 'Skin so Soft'? It appears to help keep me unbitten - and I've seen it help friends before. It is a bath oil, so when used, I recommend alocating a specific washcloth for it, so oil residue doesn't sink into multiple cloths.

[Rather that use it in baths, I apply it to the cloth and thence directly to skin. If camping, or away from sinks/showers, I segregate the cloth in a plastic bag.]
