7.2 Quake South of New Zealand at about 4 am their time - wonder if any of my peeps @Aussiecon felt it.

Nope. New Zealand is a 4 hour plane ride from Melbourne. Dave did get a text from his sister asking if we were okay. It happened on South Island @ Christchurch.

Not felt here, but there are people here from all the various parts of NZ, and the airport last I heard is shut down in Christchurch, which is the major city on the smaller of the 2 main islands. A couple of our filk friends (I'm not a namer of names, forgive me, please) have plans after the con to travel to both islands of NZ, and this could have an impact on them if the airport doesn't reopen. It's possible they could miss out on some of their plans and it could cost them a few hundred bucks to change tickets around, in a worst-case scenario.
