Back from Asia. Arrived at SFO at 6:30-ish Saturday night, paid way too much for a taxi home, unpacked, petted the cats and crashed.
Seriously jet lagged today, but did manage to do the laundry, go shopping, get gas (it's 75 cents a gallon less than when I left!), downloaded 6GB of photos from the camera's flash memory chips to the PC. That's about 1700 images. Will delete the blurry ones, rename and post them over the next couple of weeks.
Also will write a multi-part travelogue Real Soon Now.

Welcome home
Re: Welcome home
I was thinking along the same lines. I came very close to booking a flight for December 27, but it's just too darned expensive in Thailand during the holiday rush.
I did not get a very good view of any elephant butts, since I was mostly on the back of one during a solo run. I wanted to do the caravan thing, but the tour guide took me to the wrong place.
Marriage proposals, I'll have to check my journal. I can remember two off the top of my head:
Meow, who runs an internet cafe/travel agency at Nai Harn Beach on Phuket Island said she thought we would make a good couple, since we're both computer geeks. She learned computers using her mom's laptop, which means her mom is pretty well off.
Noi was my birthday present, and I also spent my last 24 hours in Bangkok with her. She said we could move up north to Tak, where her dad has a big farm, and I could take care of the cattle.
I think the total of proposals (vs propositions) was around 12. One of those was an offer to marry two women from Chiang Mai (Thailand allows up to four "minor wives" in addition to the main wife).

I have a couple of souveniers for you and Kim, which I would rather not mail, so I am wondering if maybe we can have that latte sometime during the last two weeks of the year. My company is shut down, so it would be easy enough to get to your part of the world. With my luck you are going to be in Nebraska or Arkansas or somewhere exotic like that. Anyhow, email me and let me know - the week after Christmas is best for me (I'm on call Xmas week).
