Cheese Report

Brebirousse d'Argental  is well worth the $7/lb Milk Pail charged. Smooth and rich, great on a sourdough baguette or straight up. So far the best sheep's milk cheese I've had.

Frommi Delice D'Argental At $17/lb was not such a good experience. Possibly the 1/4-lb slice I bought was bad, because after the initial smooth creamy taste there was an extremely unpleasant biting after-taste.  This is a cow milk cheese, triple cream. At that price it will be a long time before I try again.

I am lactose intolerant but for whatever reason, Brie is OK with me. We did a whole bunch of testing of $13-$15 bries at Piazza (our budget doesn't go as far as $17-$20), and we have settled on Brie Couronne - smooth and no "strange" taste. Not a complex cheese, I suppose, but very reliable. FWIW.
