I'm feeling like I am stuck in a rut here, and would be more useful there, even if it was just teaching English. When I was in Phuket I noticed a major decline in the number and level of English-speakers and mentioned this to my Friends of Thailand contact there. He pointed out that huge numbers of foreign language speakers who were employed in the tourist industries had been killed by the tsunami. The people who came to replace them did not have those skills.
My computer hardware skills are also useful, but software not so much because the locals use Thai language Windows and my Thai reading comprehension and speed is not up to that level.
As for someone specific, sort of. I met someone in Bangkok who reminded me how sweet Thai women can be. But she is not The Oneā¢. I'll be explaining that more in a separate post.
