There are almost no veterans still alive who fought for our freedom. Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, and especially all the Middle East wars did nothing to keep America free, and did a lot to threaten it.

The US armed forces have been all-volunteer for decades, and most of those who have put on a uniform have done so either because they wanted to fight and kill, or because they wanted a college education without the literacy requirement. There are some True Patriots among those people, but they are few and far between, and my first statement still holds true for them as well as the others.

Ummm, I could not let this go buy, even though it is your journal. and you are entitled to your opinion. I am kind of disappointed in what you had to say. There is much more to some vets than I think you know about. Hubby is USN retired, and I know many more who have given up a lot for their country.

There are some enlistees who have been having messed-up lives and really benefit by being in a structured environment to help them get their act together and get some training that can benefit them after they get out.

PS - I'm not a veteran. This pic is me when I was in ROTC - compulsory at the time at MIT.

Just one more thing. It is not always about making us free, but about staying that way.
