This afternoon on my way back to work from picking up a package at the apartment, the stop light lottery put me on a different route than I usually take, and lo and behold, it goes by the SETI Institute. I had no idea I lived so close to it. For the rest of the drive, I got to thinking:

Exactly what are they searching for.

Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence

Are they searching for left-over intelligent terrestrials?
Or for the intelligence of left-over terrestrials?

Enquiring minds want to know!
