I remember you being more into madiera Not exactly. One of the guys I worked with at Televideo was a precious wine collector, and he landed a transfer to France. Most of the wine in his collection was from France, and ironically France has a law against re-importing wine, so he was forced to part with it. Instead of selling it fast and cheap on the local market, he decided to host a going-away party for his wines. One of the items was a bottle of 150-year-old Madeira, and it was the best wine I had ever tasted. Which may not be saying much because I'm not much of a wine drinker. But for a while I tried whatever modern Madeiras I could find, to see if anything came close. Nothing did.
I was thinking of your fondness for the song. I've never tasted it myself. Probably the closest I have come is port, but I'm not sure of my wines and how they are all related.
