Grumbles

Two grumbles tonight.

First grumble: my job is now beginning to ignore the 8-hour day. That's fine if they send me on-site somewhere, but when it interferes with Monday Night Football...

Second grumble: Now that I am thoroughly hooked on The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, and am well into Book 3, I discover that books 4-7 were never published in paperback. I don't do hardcovers, and the prices they want for CD and audio are outrageous. And I'd rather read than be read to, anyway. And no, I'm not about to ruin a library book - reading is what I do at meal times, and anything I read will end up wearing a bit of lunch.

Ooops. I hadn't thought of that. You're absolutely right - the rest aren't in mass market. They are, however, available as trade paperbacks, and might not be that pricey used through Amazon. I've also seen them crop up in used bookstores. I'll keep an eye out for a bargain. I mean, I started you on this, I might as well try to help support your habit. ;)

As for the CD's...I've been checking them out of the library locally. I'm not a huge "books on tapes/CDs" fan, but I'm enjoying these for in the car time.

The trade paperbacks don't start to come out till January. And they want as much as for a hardcover for them. Wolves of the Calla is going for $18.95 at Powell's on pre-order.

No worries, I'll read something else for the next couple of months, and find a used one later in the winter. I've got a David Brin book sitting on the back seat which I haven't touched yet, and there are still some Ruth Rendell mysteries I haven't read yet. And i'm only halfway through Sons of the Profits which I have been putting off since 9th grade.
