Not working today. Spent the morning setting things up on the Pocket PC inherited from Steve. Got 5.0 OS loaded, put my own photos into the calendar screen saver, connected to my home wireless net and bluetooth on both the PC and the cell phone. Installed the maps program and whatever maps were available for the South Bay, SF and places I'm going tin England. Also converted a bunch of music files for the walkman, and am running a batch script to convert my mp3's into WMA's for the Pocket PC. Bought a 1GB SD card yesterday, and plugged that into the Pocket PC. Set up email, too, though I wish it had a filter capability - I get too much spam, and batch deletion is awkward on this thing.

It's a pretty neat toy - can do email, and I've bought a BlueTooth keyboard on ebay, so I think instead of lugging my laptop all over England I'll just take this with me instead.

Time to get dressed and outside.

You scored as I - Magician. The Magician, represents those aspects of the personality traditionally considered "masculine". He is in control. He knows how things work. He takes action and makes things happen. One that operates through the power of Will rather than brute force. The Magician represents the application of knowledge. The Magician creates his desired reality. When this card appears in a Tarot spread it indicates the attainment of goals through the application of knowledge and Will. If badly aspected in a spread, this card can represent abuse of power. It can indicate manipulation of others, trickery and deception.

Finally got my letter with the results of the foreign service exam. They said I did not score high enough to go to the next round.

The test was dead simple, and I know I got almost the factual questions right. Which means they did not like my answers to the purely subjective questions.

I'm not surprised, considering the horrible decisions being made by our government regarding foreign affairs. But I'm disappointed that I won't be allowed to help change it.

Skype Toys

Another toy I inherited is a Logitech web cam. The quality is pretty good for a USB camera, though it does add about 20 years to my age. I have it set up for skype (I'm how3ird there) and may add it to ms messenger and yahoo.

Speaking of Yahoo, I uninstalled it. version 7.5 is broken. Seriously broken. It completely ignores my yahoo picks for weather and sports, and substitutes an empty set for sports, and some nonsense weather listings, like Hawaii, which have never been on my list and are nowhere geographically close. The beta of version 8 is a screen hog, and requires more setup than I am willing to do. And now every time you open/close version 7, it nags you to install the broken version 7.5.
