I get a call from the recruiter who IRL has gotten me my first real on-site interview in a long time. This is about that job, and he asks me "did they say who will pay for the trip to Alaska?". What? The job is in Silicon Valley, what's this about Alaska? He says they want me to go there for a final interview. The job has changed, they are offering $300k/year for me to manage a group, and the VP lives in Alaska. The job would still be local. I don't want to be a manager, I'm not good at managing other people. But even if I wash out after 3 months, that'll be some nest egg.

Brebirousse d'Argental  is well worth the $7/lb Milk Pail charged. Smooth and rich, great on a sourdough baguette or straight up. So far the best sheep's milk cheese I've had.

Frommi Delice D'Argental At $17/lb was not such a good experience. Possibly the 1/4-lb slice I bought was bad, because after the initial smooth creamy taste there was an extremely unpleasant biting after-taste.  This is a cow milk cheese, triple cream. At that price it will be a long time before I try again.

Last night I set up the wifi webcam on the headboard of my bed and recorded overnight. The idea was to see how much I tossed and turned (most mornings the mattress is a good 4" shifted off the box springs), hear whether I snored, and see how much bed time the cats logged.

Just scanned through the recordings (the software splits them into ~828Mb clips, which is between 45 and 55 minutes) and the answers are thus:
- I hardly toss and turn at all. I stay within about a foot of where I started. I turned over three times.
- My snoring is steady and fierce and almost constant as soon as REM is over.
- The cats logged zero bed time until Pumpkin curled up in the crook of my knees at about 6:45 am.

Pumpkin later attacked my face, which is split across two clips and is pretty cute. I'll try to build a clip for YouTube tonight.

Let me try this concept one more time, people. How did you feel when you saw videos of Arabs around the world dancing in the streets after 9/11?

That's exactly how yesterday's celebrants looked to me.
