Still not dead yet, but
Aug. 20th, 2017 07:06 pmJerry Lewis is. Not a fan of his annoying character schtik, but he was a pioneer in the technical side of movie making, actually taught film making at USC.
Woke up feeling mostly human, so after the usual routine, I planted 45 saffron crocus bulbs, 40 in the plot where none of the seeds my sister had given me sprouted, and 5 in the compost heap. The instructions said they do well close together.
By the time 11:30 rolled around I was well enough to go to the photo shoot. The model is a personal trainer, has a very fit body, posed well, took directions well and did well with a diverse gang of photographers. I think there were 8 of us plus the host. Because there were so many of us and so many setups, we only shot for between 1.5 and 2.5 minutes at a time, but that suited me fine.
She has a somewhat plain face, could have used a makeup artist, but with a body like that, face photos were not a focus.
Wanted to get a haircut after, but my favorite place was showing a half hour wait.
Stopped off at Grocery and got some more artichoke hearts and lox, and some OJ. The latter seems to help with the cold. The limes they had were puny, so I passed those up.
Home, downloaded the photos, watched some football, Dinner was a small lasagna meal & ice cream.
Delivered were two packages with neutral density filters. One for 10 f/stops (ND1000) and a set marked ND16, 8, 4 nd 2. The two densest stacked together gave me a safe shot of the sun. Tomorrow I'll stack them all, I think. The 300mm lens will just barely show the eclipse, but it's worth a try. I'll watch the NASA live stream for most of it.
7 pm, time to pack it in.
Plans for tomorrow:
Work
eclipse
