Instacart MEH, Walmart WIN

Up with the lights on, dressed by 8:30. Spook spent the night on the floor of the guest room. Weird.

Last banana and opened the last HB egg package. Had both on my instacart order, which was set for 9-11 delivery window.The shopper only found about half the items, so no crab, no garbanzo beans, no ice cream sandwiches. She showed up at 9:30, at least now I have bananas for the week, both HB and fresh eggs and best-of-egg.

Called Walmart, asked them to add 8 vials of Lantus to my order and remove the Pradaxa. She said it would be ready by 2.

Drove out at about 3:30 and it took a while for them to find the meds. Partly because the insulin is in the fridge, in a separate bag. But they done good, only $33 for the lot.

Since I was there, I also shopped for what Insta did not find at Albertson's. Walmart had tons of garbanzo beans, both in the canned veggies section and the Hispanic section.  Also scored 4 cubes of Kleenex, soy sauce, a small bottle of olive oil, several frozen meals including personal pizzas. And lots of ice cream - mint Klondike bars. Also SodaStream pina colada syrup, but they were out of cartridges to exchange.

The store was very crowded, made worse by an army of shelf stockers who did not know the store well enough.

Pasta seashells, because no large elbow macaroni except in fast meals packs. Tons of those, though. Still no rice or flour or TP.




Home, put stuff away. Tried to stream but only 1 chatter who left after asking 1 question.

Watched part of the drive home earlier but he was on early so I missed most of it.

The cat toy arrived which Susan talked about on her LJ, it's very solid. Spook tried to play, but it kept getting caught in corners and wires. She spent a lot of time watching it from the sheepskin rug, where she is now sleeping.

Found Vegas Penguin online before dinner, and again after - he's driving a car he sold to NorCal. He expects to arrive around 6 am, I'll check on him again later.

Dinner was a pair of Red Baron supreme personal pizzas. Nice crust, not much in the toppings department. Mnt chip ice cream with whipped cream & a cherry on top.

A very hot day today, still 65F outside and 80 inside.

Looking forward to taking out the garbage

The handyman dumped a lot of stuff in both the regular and recycled garbage bins, and I've already taken out two bags of trash and emptied one container of recycles. Looking forward to having that picked up Monday and being able to use my whole bins again.

Last night I took a pair of non-gel cold pills and the result was a good night's sleep and stumbling out of bed around 10.

Not a lot of streamers online. The usual breakfast, but late lunch of the last of the fried chicken and half a can of creamed corn. Chocolate ice cream sandwich for dessert, but also finished off a container of cantaloupe little by little through the day.

Watched Vegas Penguin streaming his pal Buck driving Penguin's Buick. But lost the signal.

Nothing accomplished in unpacking. Spent some time at the Yamaha keyboard, but need pillows on the chair. Or a taller chair. I have some.

Wanted to clean up the last of the stuff on the livingroom rug, but Spook has made a nest of it.

Oh wait, I did collect the box of glow light tubes and the stray one and put them in a kitchen drawer.

On Tivo were two unwatchable episodes of Andy Cohen, one 90 day fiancé rerun and one new episode. I am hoping the Nigerian rap star abandons his dream of marrying a rich old American woman. He can do better. OTOH, now that the handsome American has confessed his drug dealer conviction, his very pretty and smart Siberian fiancé seems to be on board. But I doubt if he can get her a visa with that background. I think the tall American stalker is about to understand he is being catfished by his alleged Russian mail order bride. To be continued.

Masked Singer was a farce. A sing-along of one on one previously recorded stuff. No one was unmasked. Poorly hammered together. I suspect the MC has caught a cold, he was conspicuously missing from the video.

Gold Rush has Parker being led to one poor choice of mining site after another in Australia. He really ought to be banging his guide. She has given some hints, but he is not on that wavelength. I think they would make a fine couple.

Forgotten Friday

Friday a long time friend called from Seattle to catch up. We met in the 60's at UW international folkdancing, which I followed for many years. When I moved to the Bay Area she had gotten married and was working at the naval air station there. She and husband have been back in Seattle, retired, and live in a senior living apartment which is under total lockdown. She's a nurse, so has some educated ideas - one of which is she expects it to be 2 years before there is an effective vaccine.

She also keeps tabs on all our folkdance friends,  and let me know someone I had a huge crush on back then recently died of cancer. And I asked if she had any word from Jimmy, my first openly gay friend. The last I had seen he was moving to LA to be with his boyfriend. She said he had been living with a woman partner for several years on the Olympic peninsula, and passed away a couple of years ago. Aids.
