Last night I totally blanked on reporting that I watched the final two episodes of God Friended Me. They were only scheduled to air one episode, so I was not too surprised that the second one cheated.

The whole show was written with a prejudice in favor of believing in god. The main character is an atheist, his dad is the Bishop of NYC.

In the episode meant for tonight, a kid imagines an angel talked to him when he was in a coma, but we find out the angel was actually his estranged grandfather, telling him stories about the kid's dad which dad never told the kid. But after we have established that, the kid comes up with one more line from the angel which grandpa says he did not tell the kid.

For no apparent reason the kid skips school and goes into a church to think about the angel. Atheist follows him in (also for no reason). After the kid springs the last line on everyone, Atheist goes to the church to think. This is not his dad's church, which is very odd.

The next episode starts with atheist on the top of a mountain in the Himalayas, then flashback - they re-unite the atheist's former girlfriend (who has never not been a part of his life despite their breakup) and then fast forwards 6 months to them kissing and being in a committed relationship, and then FF again, to the opening scene, on the top of a mountain in the Himalayas. A girl child dressed in a not quite accurate Tibetan monk's robes tells Atheist to follow her. The end.

It looks to me like the plague hit just as they were recording the final episode. It will be interesting to see if they come back for another season.
