I should have gotten out of bed when the alarm went off, but I put myself 2 hours behind. Still no signal on Tivo for BBC America.

10:30, poured a glass of apple juice, took drugs, sliced a banana, dolloped PNB on it and sat down at the PC to read email and some FB. But no patience, I drove to the Cox store and got a replacement cable card. Home, installed the card, it updated its firmware, then locked me out of the program list.

Called tech support, after 20 minutes of trying things and them researching, it seems I need a tuner adapter, which I was supposed to have been given when I first was given a cable card 18 months ago.

Back to Cox, got the (free) adapter, and took it home.

Set it aside because it was almost 1 pm, time to drive to the Hematology appointment. Got there at 1:20 for a 1:30 appointment, but did not get to see the doctor until 45 minutes later. It was interesting. He was stumped. All the tests he had me do a month ago and my own sleep test ruled out all the reasons he could think of for my high red blood cell count. There was lots of good news there:
No
- blood clots in my legs
- bone marrow disease/cancer
- sleep apnea
- no kidney stones
and a few more esoteric things.

So what we'll try is blood letting aka phlebotomy. The theory being that removing some blood will remove red blood cells, and  hopefully new blood will be made with a lower % of red cells. He mentioned that this is what killed George Washington and I mentioned that it made me think of leeches. My BP was too low to do it today, so scheduled for sessions starting Wednesday. And the low BP he blames on the new beta blocker from my PCP, so cut out the beta blockers. The new one and Valsartan, which I've been taking for a year+.  Before I left they took a small sample, because it has been 2 months since the last red blood cell count.

Home, took the route past Horsemen Park but of course the camera glitched. I need to go onto the Nexar site to see how to edit these trips. I think it caught one of the trips back from Cox, which has a great view of the mountains.

Home, set up the tuner adapter. Very easy - all the connections are well marked and they provided the right cables. Restarted Tivo. blinking green LED on the adapter, my regular channels worked, Tivo menu said it saw the adapter, but no signal on BBC.  Message on the box said to call Cox tech support.

Support tech wasn't able to pair the adapter. His boss was, and got a solid green on the adapter, but still no signal on BBC, so I rebooted the box and about an hour after staring this session we had A Few Good Men on BBC. I wanted BBC America for The Graham Norton Show and Doctor Who. Most of their content is American movies and Star Trek - all the spinoffs. They want you to pay for most of their British content on their streaming service, which is nasty of them.

Watched Outdoor Nevada which featured ghost towns of Beatty and Rhyolite. The host is in love with abandoned places. It's a bit much.

90 Day The Other Way and its Pillow Talk episode was very good. For me the highlight was seeing the gay Mexican sit down with his very traditional father and getting 90% of the love he was asking for. Dad needs to process the idea of a gay wedding, but he has a year. He will probably come around, unlike the parents in India whose son is engaged to an American who is older than his mother.

There's an NFL game waiting to be watched. And some more Hot Bench. And Below Deck Med. PTI was missed because it was on during the tuner install. or maybe pre-empted by MNF.
Maybe it's the pheromones, but Jade was very active on the Ring cams, chasing a toy around. When I went in with canned food and checked around, what she was playing with was a chewed up piece if duct tape. And maybe also a small toy which has been on the floor forever.

Spook has taken to using all my footwear as pillows, wherever I leave them in the livingroom.

BASFA meeting was good, my rumor of the week was chosen.

Finished breakfast for lunch. Salad and meat loaf with mashed & pistachio almond ice cream dinner.

Printed out the new channel lineup and added them to the channel guide. They all work, but Tivo's EPG has the names of some of them wrong.

Tomorrow:
Catch up on football
Sutures come out
More Tivo
