Raising Cane

Today's adventure was refilling Jade's food and water. A challenge because the walker doesn't with through that door. Luckily there was a cane hanging from the rack not too far from the door and I was able to retrieve it. With the cane I was able to open the gate, go inside and remove the empty tank from the water fountain. Next door is the guest bathroom, the walker doesn't fit in there either, but I was able to stand long enough to fill the tank. Then back to Jade's room and slide the tank in place. The fountain was pretty empty, and the tank is now about 3/4 full. Too much to pull it out again and top it off.

Two bags of food were on top of the litterbox cartridges above the washer/dryer, and I'm not that tall, but was able to use some items on the dryer to get the Purina One bag down. Filled Spook's kibble tower first, then Jade's.

Also readjusted the Ring cam by Jade's door to point to the food and water. There's another cam with a depleted battery way inside pointed at the tree, some day soon I'll cane my way there and change the battery. But that's a view I can live without.

Albertson's has been out of Gatorade Zero forever, so I ordered some from Smith's (aka Kroger) and hit the jackpot. 8-packs of 20 oz bottles in orange, lime and punch flavor. They also had sugar free 7-up. Only two Gatorade packs fit in the fridge, the other and the 7-up is parked on the stove. I'll have to move them but I don't know where.

Watched the recording of the Olympics opening ceremony. I was not impressed with the video tricks, and when the athletes walked in it was a major WTF. They used all-Western music. Staring with the William Tell Overture. Then Pomp and Circumstance. Also heard Hungarian Dance #5, excerpts from The Nutcracker, the overture from Carmen, Strauss waltzes, but not a single note of Chinese music. The commentators never shut up, very annoying. The Chinese team came last, it looked like there were a thousand of them. Very embarrassed about Team USA, which broke into "USA,USA,USA" chanting every time the camera was on them. So juvenile. So disrespectful to the other teams still entering the stadium.

Mom's meals breakfast and dinner. Snacking on Babybel cheese (from Smith's - Albertson's is out) and a shrimp half-round with cocktail sauce for lunch. And berries.

Oh, and I took my Chinese robe out of the dryer to see what it was made of (I bought it in SF Chinatown a million years ago) then went online and found 3 of the same material but with pockets ! and ordered them. 3xl instead of 2xl.

Some more progress

Re-learning how to stand up straight without holding onto the walker. Ame getting better at picking things up from the floor, with one hand on the walker. I saw Jade eating some of Spook's cat grass, so I took the growing container and put it on the floor in her room (Spook's is still in the front room). Major standing up project was removing the filter pack from the aquarium pump and rinsing it out in then kitchen sink. It was a mess. Hopefully with that clean and back in place the tank water will be clearer by tomorrow.

Finally watched Graham Norton. A couple of days ago Cox cable support got my tuner adapter updated and reinstated the entertainment pack which includes BBC America.

Mom's meals dinner was filling, pepper steak slab with gravy over pasta. Dessert was strawberries. Breakfast was a banana sliced into whipped cream.

Been drinking a lot of yellow Gatorade zero, will switch to orange tomorrow. I may also break open the case of diet 7-up and put a few cans in the fridge.

It was 64° outside so I took my neighbor's advice and sat out on the porch for a while.

Re-watching the Olympics opening ceremony, the speech by the commissioner made my eyes leak a few times and then I lost it completely at "Imagine"

Pro Bowl tomorrow. Will be in my recliner watching ESPN a lot. And local news because it's being played here.
