The folder Microsoft assigns as the document folder is under the user name on the system drive, which is Stupid™ because that's usually the drive with the least space, and, if it fills up, your system is hosed. So I created long ago a documents folder on my data drive, and store all my docs there, except many programs use the Windows default and the only way to change that is to change the Windows default.

Which I finally found out two days ago and did so. Part of the routine is it lets you automagically move all your C:\username\Documents files to the new folder, which I did.

For the past two days, Quicken has come up with a prompt which made it sound like I was a new user, but as it turned out, it merely wanted to be pointed to the data file in the new documents folder. Which means Quicken has a bug, since it should have seen the file in its new location, if it was following the Windows path. But it seems it gets hard coded instead.

Today I figured that out before calling support. I waited till today because Quicken support was closed all weekend.

Been feeling bored and slightly disoriented. I need a job. But it doesn't look like recruiters will be back at work until next week. :-(

Have been trying to use Amazon's job site, but it keeps saying my password is wrong, even after changing it and email verifying the changes 3 times. Maybe I'll ask AG to recommend me for the job I wanted to apply for. Skip the broken web site.

Good news, the calendars shipped today and are due to arrive Friday. Bad news is though the first class postage rate goes up for the initial ounce, additional ounces are going to be less expensive. My $2.05 postage for the 6-oz envelope becomes $1.75. But (a) I have already stamped all the envelopes and (b) the change is not till the 27th.

Last night's fruit cobbler was a total mess, so it sleeps with the disposal pipes. Went to Grocery Outlet and stocked up on butter and sugar,  which I was running low on, and got a can each of apricot halves and pineapple rings to add to the frozen peach slices I already had almost enough of. Also got a non-stick 9x13 pan.

The result was better, but not as good as my first attempts. I put too much cinnamon in the batter - there should be none, just put some in the sugar the fruit is boiled in. And for the amount of batter in the recipe, and 8x8 pan would have been better. And 3 cups not 4 of fruit. But I did reduce the cooking time from 40 to 30 minutes, which worked for the larger pan. Mostly.

While I was at GO I saw that two cars were charging on fast DC, so I really need to find out why I was not given that option last time.

Lunch was mac and cheese with slices of turkey kielbasa. Mochi for dessert. Dinner was beef pot pie, lamyay for dessert and an egg cream chaser. It was flat, I'll need to make another one. <grin> Big dishwasher load is done and put away.

Watched a storm chaser show the place where a recent hurricane washed away his car and most of the town in FL. Mexico Beach and then St. Joe.

When I feel down, I go to YouTube and play two Tom Smith songs. This one to make me feel down-er:

Life is unfair, so they tell me,
Because they think I wouldn't know.
They only can see a cheap gimmick
On their children's favorite show.

They say, "Oh, that's just foam and a wire,
Attached to a green velvet sleeve,
Anyone can do that" -- well, that's true, I suppose,
But who else could make them believe?

What can I say without you there to guide me?
How else am I supposed to give?
How can I sing without you there beside me?
How else am I supposed to live?

You could never just do the expected,
I was just an idea in a bog,
But you sewed up your dream and we made quite a team,
Jim and Kermit, a boy and his frog.

It was me, Rolph, and you, but I think that he knew
There was something that you and I had.
The magic we made just kept growing,
And none of it ever was bad.

Then came Ernie and Scooter and Gonzo,
Doctor Teeth, Cookie Monster, and more.
But now all of those voices are silent,
And I want to go on... but what for?

No one can make me what you did,
No one could walk in your shoes,
Nothing can make me forget you,
But that's not a thing that I'd choose.

I can't just let it be over,
And you wouldn't want it that way,
So I'll stand up and I'll face it,
And, though not quite in your voice, I'll say:

I will go on without you there to guide me,
There's so much more I can give.
Whenever I sing, you will be there beside me,
As long as I keep you, you'll live.

We just wanted to make people happy,
I was always much more than your toy.
I will never regret and I'll never forget
What we had,
I'll miss you, Dad,
This frog and his boy.

And this one to lift me up:

That waitress at Pete's who took so long to seat you,
And left you to stand in the doorway,
With her stringy red hair and her thousand-yard stare,
In her mind, she's the Princess of Norway.

As she takes down your order, she's crossing the fjord, her
White stallion spits foam like a madman.
Many Vikings have died trying to take her as bride,
But her heart is reserved for a bad man.

Rich fantasy lives.
Somehow she survives in a world she contrives.
Inhibited husbands and frustrated wives
Lead rich fantasy lives.

That guy from IT ressurects your PC
With a boredom he barely suppresses.
Though he rarely converses, he has more universes
In his head than you've got addresses.

He wargames through weekends, leads armies and legions.
He doesn't care how well you putted.
He's browsing reality's infinite palette, he's
Seen yours, and yours doesn't cut it.

Rich fantasy lives.
He quietly thrives in a world he contrives.
Techno-drone insects in cubicle hives
Lead rich fantasy lives.

We're piling up fears, but we're out of frontiers.
Some need to escape, but there's nowhere.
Can't go to the Moon, at least any time soon,
But an inner-space trip costs you no fare.

So don't be unkind to a wandering mind,
Just say it again if we missed it.
Some whispering poem was calling us home
To a place we know never existed.

Rich fantasy lives.
Our peace-bonded knives and our hyperspace drives.
Until that steam engine to Hogwarts arrives,
We have rich fantasy lives.

Rich fantasy lives.
Our quests and our tribes and our Babylon Fives.
Until something better than this world arrives,
We'll lead rich fantasy lives.
Rich fantasy lives.

They both make me cry. Go figure.

Plans for tomorrow:
I have none. Need to get out, though. Too cold for the park, maybe Starbucks.
Get some fries from McDonalds
