Registered and manicured
May. 10th, 2021 09:40 pmWoke up at 6 as planned, listened to the fire department scanner for half an hour, they were very busy for a Monday morning. Up & dressed, took drugs except for the diuretic. Half my usual insulin because no breakfast.
Gathered the paperwork and my vanity plates and took the hour-long drive to the DMV. Thought I would know it when I saw it, but after maybe 40 minutes I pulled into a parking lot and programmed it into the GPS. I was still 7 miles away. It is way the heck on the other side of LV, past the strip by 6 miles.
Remembered to start at the vehicle inspection lane, where they scan the tag inside the front driver's door, and come out of the shack with your paperwork and fill in the mileage.
Next, very short line in front of the building, many helpers to guide you. Show your appointment proof and get a code number and wait for the number to be called. I only had to wait about 10 minutes. The woman who helped me was not nearly as good as the one from last time, she kept asking for the mileage, which was written on three pages in front of her. I was charged a late fee because my temp plates expired a month ago - but there were no appointments, so not my fault. She said I should have come in as a walk-up, but that usually takes all day. The fine was offset by a credit I had on the vanity plates, which did not expire till October. The new tags are till May 2022. Close to $700. Yikes.
Drove home, but cut across to Tropicana instead of staying on construction-heavy Flamingo. Thought about stopping in at Trop, but not today.
About 10:40 I was home, had a snack and some ginger ale. Then went outside, took the temp plate off, applied the new tag to the vanity plate and screwed it in. Took the front bracket out of the trunk and tried to screw it in, but needed to drill pilot holes. There are dimples in the front to show where to drill. Well, they gave me the screws to install the bracket but not for the license plate. Very low humidity, needed to hydrate.
Went online for ginger ale and to order those screws, but instead got an anti-theft version, due to be delivered tomorrow.
Called for a manicure appointment, they didn't have 3 pm but they had 4 pm. Got there to early, listened to the Jimmy Buffet channel on SiriusXM and enjoyed the air conditioning. The car doesn't use much juice for that.
Went in 10 minutes early, they took me right away. Middle aged tech, she was slow and careful, not an artist, did an okay job. She managed to remove the hangnail caused by the last place. $25, very cheap. Maybe will go back next time. It's fairly close and easier to get to than the GPS route.
Home, watched the fish. None died. The water is still clear. I need more plants. One of the algae eaters is playing ramora with the big gourami. He doesn't like that.
Ate a salad and reheated one serving of yellow curry tilapia, and watched PTI and part of Below Deck rerun with added crap scenes. Calendar alarm reminded me of the BASFA zoom meeting. It was good but short.
I streamed for half an hour, only one chatter and he bailed after a few minutes.
Plans for tomorrow:
PetSmart, see if they are selling fish again. Buy some plants.
Maybe buy platys or angel fish.
Maybe go to Trop for angels
