Marriage and The Bible
Oct. 9th, 2006 04:36 pmBecause of something I posted on
cinchntouch's LJ, I have been trying to remember a single biblical wedding. I have a very strong Old Testament education, and not a bad New Testament one for a non-believer, but I cannot remember a single description of a wedding from either one.
There are plenty of "and he knew his wife" in the first 5 books, and at least one "he worked on her father's fields for 7 years and was given his eldest daughter", but nothing even remotely approaching the ceremonies we see in Synagogues and Churches today.
Can anyone point me at a Biblical basis of "till death do us part", and the other related vowstuff?
