The Law of Smoke Alarms

1. Smoke alarm batteries are required to run down and set off the annoying and almost impossible to locate chirp at the most inconvenient time possible.
2. The battery will not be one you have on hand or can easily find at a 24-hour store
3. Smoke alarms are required to go off the first time you fire up the heater
4. Smoke alarms are required to go off when you have a date over, and you are cooking to impress him/her

5a. When you do manage to get them off their mountings, it becomes impossible to put them back on without a ladder taller than any that you have available.
