A Question From The Socially Inept

I'll make this a public post because this is not about anyone you know.

A friend of a friend of mine  has been emailing me about her life & times for a couple of years, and I'm worried about a pattern of behavior I'm seeing in those messages, but don't know what to say or how to say it.

It's pretty simple:

She parties to get drunk. Falling-down drunk. She is neither embarrassed nor proud of this.

The friend who introduced us tells me the person in question is not an alcoholic, she drinks mostly non-alcoholic drinks, has a good work attendance record, and is pretty social. But when she parties she gets plastered.

She's a nice person, very talented and attractive. But I'm worried about her clobbering her body like that.

I don't know her that well, we're not An Item and never will be, so the question is do I even mention my concerns to her?

Howeird, I didn't realize Britney Spears was a friend of yours. Say hi for me. Tell her that despite what other people say, I think the crotchless look is very stylish. Bigcat

Nice try, but it isn't Britney. She drinks like a fish 24/7. She phoned last night to explain the hair do - turns out there was a message on her cell from someone at NASA's astronaut program, and she thought she was being invited.

She knew the funny things long hair does in space, so she figured on a buzz cut, so she would look more like one of those buff fighter pilot astronaut guys, but halfway through her phone rang, and it was NASA.

They told her she didn't need to cut her hair, but to get into the program she would need to take distract the press so they would forget all about the link between NASA and Anna Nicole's death.

She said we can expect to hear about the new Rehab in Space program real soon now.

I expect that if NASA does recruit her, she could be the first officially credentialed space cadet.
