Seattle Ho!
Jun. 11th, 2007 11:35 amWell, no, they have sort of cleaned up the ho problem in Seattle. But my chat with the parental units last night made it clear they are in full swing preparing to move out of the house they have lived in since 1966 and into an apartment at The Summit, a Jewish retirement apartment complex on Pill Hill. So they want the kids to come by and take stuff home with us which they won't have room for in the dramatically smaller new place.
They are on a waiting list, probably this is a year out, but the sooner the better.
So, I'll drive up there for SeaFair weekend, meet up with my Baltimore sister and my Poulsbo sister, and bring back the collection of 8mm home movies and projector so I can transfer those to DVD. Also will grab their 78 RPM record collection which is already on a set of CDs. There's a place in SF which will probably pay well for those. In return I've ordered CDs of Bill Cosby and Tony Bennett which will be much better than the LPs they have, considering they have a good CD player and a piece 'o' crap turntable which probably doesn't work anymore.
So, my Seattle LJ friends, the plan is to be in town Friday August 3 through the weekend, driving back Monday and I would love to get together with you. The folks live in S. Seattle not far from Renton/Tukwila but I'll have my car, and will be fairly mobile. Suggestions welcome.

Oh, and if you like sushi, you should definitely go to Mizu, which is a Japanese steakhouse in Tukwila near Southcenter, next to Target. They have a really fabulous sushi chef.
