Been experimenting with using Windows' sleep feature instead of shutting down, which has been my habit for the past umpteen years. Though I have set up the Vista power save to not require a password when I wake the machine from sleep mode, it always wants my password. Very rude of it.

OTOH, it does shut down the machine in about the same time as a real shutdown, powers down everything, and comes back up in about 5 seconds, as opposed to 2 minutes. I like that. I don't like that it wakes on any keyboard activity even though I have set it, I thought, to only wake on power button.

I should experiment with that a bit on my Vista laptop -- it doesn't wake on keyboard activity, but it sometimes wakes when my XP laptop (on the same network) wakes.
