Bye Bye Bonds?

The Giants have told Barry goodbye. The timing and the way they did it was heartless and cruel well beyond the excuse of "it's a business". Barry is being a lot more gracious about it than I would have been. Read his official comments here - I am impressed with who he chose to thank individually.

I was knocked out by the classy way he handled the whole thing. I thought the Giants' end of it was strange but then I haven't been paying close attention and thought maybe this is the way they do everything. Now I am even more impressed with him (and, less with them). I heard speculation about his coming to Seattle - probably very far from happening but I'd be happy to have him.

I would think the A's would be the first choice - after all, they are down one Barry with the trade of Zito to the Giants.

But Bonds has hinted strongly ever since the home run race was behind him that he might want to return to Pittsburgh, where he got his major league start.
