Background music right now is the cast album of Wicked, starring, among others, Kristen Chenowith, who comes to us from the Oklahoma State Home for the Terminally Cute. She is also a stunning soprano, and the camera loves her - partly because the cameraman is always significantly taller than her, and she has an amazing cleavage for such a petite woman. Plus she holds 17 patents on techniques for being adorable in front of a lens.

She's a good actress, too.

But even she cannot overcome the hokey-ness of Pushing Daisies, one of the many rip-offs of one of my very favorite TV shows of all time, Dead Like Me.  I keep watching Daisies for the Kristen fix, but it doesn't quite make up for the off-putting production style.

I don't see the rip-off-ness of Pushing Daisies, at least not in comparison to Dead Like Me.

Now if you said that it was a stylistic rip-off of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the narrator's voice is very like the Book) or perhaps A Series of Unfortunate Events (it's that absurd), I might agree. There just isn't much it has in common with Dead Like Me.
