Seagull vs. Starfish

Click on the photo to see some pretty pictures I took at the beach in front of Santa Cruz boardwalk last night. The tide was lower than I have ever seen it, and there were all kinds of goodies there for the plucking - I claimed a fully intact sand dollar, and this seagull found an even bigger, more rare prize.

There was also a big mob of sea lions off the east side of the wharf, some crazy Asian woman was yelling at them to "dance dance" at the top of her voice. I wish I'd brought my real flash - the built-in pipsqueak on the camera didn't have enough reach to light them well.

They are ripping up the boards and replacing them with concrete. How can one have a boardwalk without boards? Harumph.
