McCain's Choice

Smart move, naming a woman Washington outsider with executive experience. You can't get much farther outside of Washington than Alaska (Obama lost that contest when he moved to Chi-town). Being a former beauty queen doesn't hurt either. Five kids, one of whom is a poster child for pro-life, another is in the Army, bound for Iraq.  Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska has only been governor since 2006, but she has taken charge with an iron fist, rooting out corruption in her own party leadership with a vengeance. Multi-talented, she played basketball in high school at a championship level, played the flute for her Miss Alaska talent competition (she was runner-up and Miss Congeniality), flies a float plane and has worked on board commercial fishing boats. She is also very Christian, a life member of the NRA and makes Mitt Romney look like an atheistic pacifist.

About the only thing missing is color. I still think McCain should have picked Condi Rice.

I'm not sure I give her much for the "rooting out corruption" considering that she also appears to have acted to fire a state trooper (her brother in law) who was divorcing her sister. When the commissioner refused to do so, she fired the commissioner.

Not that it matters,she loses me at 'fundamentalist protestant,' creationist, and pro-life.

And while Condi is likely better qualified, she would add even more of a Bush administration odor to the McCain campaign. It wasn't gonna happen...

The state trooper made death threats against her family. I'd have tried to fire him too, under the circumstances. There's nothing corrupt about trying to protect your sister from an armed man with a temper.

But yeah, other than cleaning up the GOP crooks, and abolishing the gas tax, I'm against pretty much everything she stands for.

McCain probably couldn't get Condi... That would have been a smart move... This woman has nothing in common with Hillary other than having ovaries.... I do not think the 18 million people she casually mentioned in her uneventful boring cookie cutter intro speech are going to jump on her ship just because she is a woman. It is an insult to women everywhere to think so... :( I am disappointed in McCain... He used to go against the grain; he was a moderate, a maverick... Now he's just a cog in the GOP machine, a third term Bush.

Silly girl, Palin wasn't picked to appeal to women, she's the trophy VP, former beauty queen who did a smashing Vogue cover last year and would be right at home in Sports Illustrated. She's there to appeal to the men who supported Hilary because they want a hottie in the White House.
