So I'm watching KTVU this morning because my TV is my alarm clock, and this fairly good boy's A Capella choir is singing, I think they are at the airport. They are on their way to DC where they apparently have a 20-minute(!) slot at the inauguration. The woman "reporter" who was apparently hired for her looks and willingness to earn a pittance to get up way too early in the morning, says the group will also be singing a song Yes We Can which she said was "based on the last words of Obama's acceptance speech". Wrong, and wrong, lady. It was his election victory speech, and it was the third line from the end. The end of the speech was "God bless America", which, ironically, is also in the vocal group's playlist.

It was probably in the blurb from the choir, and that's my point. A journalist would have seen the whole speech, not just the "Yes we can" sound bytes, and a real journalist would have asked her producers to double-check. It is so easy to change "the last line" to "the memorable line" or "the keynote" or some other accurate but still poetic attribution.
