Turkey Vuture in Flight

It was finally a nice day, so I drove across the Bay to Livermore and Del Valle Park. Saw all these hawks flying around, sometimes as many as seven in the air at a time - but looking closer it turns out they are turkey vultures. Proof there are a lot of turkeys in the City That Glows In The Dark? You be the judge.

Anyhow, nice day, but not much in bloom out there. Probably need to go back there in the summer some time and maybe rent a boat.

Lovely photos. Del Valle has many turkey vultures, but also a nesting pair of bald eagles, some golden eagles and the usual large assortment of raptors--red-tails, et al.

Vultures are kinda ugly on the ground, but they are magnificent soarers. I love watching them catch thermals, especially when the thermal lets them sweep low over a hillside.
